The Not-So-Fun Commerford Fun Fair
Read MoreThis pony being used as a stationary photo prop was almost surreal. I was struck not only by his inability to move in any direction, but by the irony of the happy farm image behind him. How could no one else appreciate the tragedy? ME: "Is he tied up here all day?" ATTENDANT: "NO. We rotate them." ME: "Oh.. How often?" ATTENDANT: "Half." ME: "Half the day?" ATTENDANT: "Yes." The "fun fair" was open 9 hours on Saturday and 8 hours on Sunday
Just "PIGS". No mention of the fact that they are the 4th most intelligent earthling - smarter than dogs. No mention of their ability to recognize humans and up to 30 of their friends. No mention of their ability to find food using mirrors (think about that one). No mention of their ability to use tools or recognize their own name. No mention of their ability to dream.. Just "pigs".
This pony, along with three of his friends, are chained to a carousel. Children are placed upon their backs and they are forced to walk in a circle. There are two "alternate" ponies next to the carousel that are also rotated in, making each of their shifts last approximately 5.5 hours of an 8-hour day.
